A Controversial 42nd Win of Mayweather Jr. Over Victor Ortiz

Mayweather Jr. hits Ortiz with a  sucker punch on the face giving boxing fans a controversial knock-out win. Last Sept. 17 2011, at the boxing event intitled “Star Power” held at the MGM Grand Arena, former pound-per-pound boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. faced WBC World Welterweight title holder, Victor Ortiz. Mayweather snached the belt from Ortiz on a four rounder sucker punch that knocked Victor Ortiz. Ortiz was badly hit and did not able to recover on ten counts.

It was clear for boxing analysts that Mayweather dominated the first three rounds with ease. He controlled the game forcing Ortiz to miss punches. Victor Ortiz showed an aggressive performance in the ring. He tried to bully and work around the jabs and hooks but was always caught with a counter jab from Mayweather causing little swelling on his right eye. Then the bell rang for the fourth round, Ortiz continued on an aggressive pace then suddenly out of the heart to hit Mayweather on the face along the corner of the ring, he headbutt Mayweather.

It was clear that Ortiz intentionally used his head but afterward he apologized to Mayweather. The referee was not looking at the two fighters neither he called the two fighters to box again in the center ring. And Ortiz was still attempting to hug Mayweather for apology but Mayweather suddenly surprised Ortiz with a left jab, followed by a right sucker punch on the face of Ortiz knocking him down the canvas. Ortiz ,at the video replay, was looking at the referee for a signal to fight but with the following events he was caught off-guard and found himself being counted for a knock-out.

Boxing fans around the globe were shocked with mix emotions on what they saw last Sept. 17, at the MGM Grand Arena. Issues like Pacquiao, after seeing the fight, will back-off because of the disrespectful attitude and dirty tactics of Mayweather or will he stand and mess up a 42 win, 0 loss record.

Boxing analysts Larry Merchant had an interview with Mayweather in the ring after the fight, but it ended up with Mayweather trash talking Larry Merchant, which was very disrespectful for the 80 year old veteran. True enough, Mayweather is a really great boxer but overwhelmed with his greatness. He felt victorious on that night, but other than that people booed him, again.

Mayweather vs. Ortiz: Mega Event at MGM Grand

“The Battle of the Legendary”, it is how some described the upcoming event at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada on Sept 17 2011. Will the legends of the boxing ring rain victorious or it's about time for the new heroes to travel the champions' road.

Everyone thought that Mayweather would resign from boxing undefeated and unchallenged. But issues like not facing Manny Pacquiao on a title match ,where everyone knows he would earn big time against renowned “pound per pound king”, made fight fans wonder if Mayweather was just a coward going after money, accepting fights from weaker and inexperienced fighters. The fight would have been the fight of the century, proving to the world who is the real “Pound per Pound King of The Ring.” Mayweather, this Sept. 17 2011, will be facing a Mexican-American , and present WBC World Welterweight Champion, Victor Ortiz at the MGM Grand Arena at Las Vegas.

The most awaited event for Mayweather fans is fast approaching. Eight percent of the boxing fans all over the world states that the fight will be for Mayweather. The more experience Mayweather as they stated would have the better strategy and some of the dirty tactics to send the Champ ,Victor Ortiz, home. In their fight promotion, both of the fighters already exchanged bitter words against each other Meanwhile, at Ortiz's training camp, Ortiz is said to be improving on his footwork and lateral movements. This training is said to help him to land more accurate punches against Mayweather's tight defense.

Now the question for all the fight fans out there is, will Victor Ortiz finally bring Mayweather to forever resign in boxing or will Mayweather add another victory for a trophy in the Hall of Fame?

The fight in titled “Star Power” will also feature a bout between Erik Morales and "El Demoledor" or Pablo Cesar Cano, undefeated. Not only the Mexican boxing fans but the whole world will be thrilled to watch Erik Morales fight again in the boxing ring against a rising champion from Tlalnepantla, Mexico City. As the boxing fans would in title the boxing event, this battle of the legendary would prove their place in the Hall of Fame, a fighter worthy of remembrance and honor for fighting for his country and fighting for his pride as a warrior in the ring.

A referee worthy of being the 3rd man in the ring is also an aspirant of the Hall of Fame is referee Joe Cortez. The athletic commission of Nevada also known as NSAC formally announced the 3 official judges of the bout, all from Las Vegas, Nevada are Jerry Roth, Glenn Trowbridge and Adalaide Byrd.

Questions are raised why Mayweather picked Victor Ortiz, not Cotto, not Margarito and not Manny Paquiao, but this Sept 17, Victor Ortiz will have the chance why he was picked by the former pound-per-pound boxer. This Mega Event will be the highlight of September.
